This month NITA is seeking excellence, and I am reaching out to all of you in the NITA community to find it. We need your help to find both this year’s NITA Annual Award recipients and future NITA faculty.
Annual NITA Awards
Every year NITA hands out three faculty awards to the best of the best, and now is the time to send in your nominations. We have assembled a committee of program directors, faculty, and trustees to review nominations and ultimately decide who will be recognized for the following awards:
- The Hon. Robert E. Keeton Award for Outstanding Service as a NITA Faculty Member.
- The Hon. Prentice H. Marshall Award for Development of Innovative Teaching Methods.
- The Robert E. Oliphant Award for Outstanding Service to NITA
More information about each award and a nomination form can be found here.
Nominations are due March 2, 2012 with recipients being announced in April.
Next Generation Faculty
We are also seeking nominations for NITA’s Next Generation Faculty. If you have taught in or even attended a program with someone who was a clear-cut superstar, we want to hear from you.
Nominees for this program should include people who are under 45, have teaching experience in local programs, and/or have been identified in a NITA teacher training program as possessing the potential to become outstanding NITA faculty or program director.
In addition to youth, the criteria for admission to this program will include diversity of practice (preference to faculty with recent substantial courtroom litigation experience), gender, race, and ethnicity. Upon collecting and reviewing nominations a committee will determine who best fits the description of NITA Next Generation Faculty.
The names of those awarded will be sent to all NITA program directors. This will give the directors an opportunity to work with new and outstanding faculty throughout the year. To nominate someone for NITA Next Generation Faculty please use this form.
Nominations are due March 16 with recipients being announced and circulated in late April.
Sincerely,
John Baker
NITA Executive Director
